Massage Therapy

Registered Massage Therapists assess and treat pain and physical dysfunction of the soft tissues and joints of the body mostly by soft tissue manipulation. Assessment and treatment can include orthopaedic and neurological testing, soft tissue manipulation (Swedish massage is the most commonly used technique), hydrotherapy, remedial exercise programs and client education programs.

Gowshigan graduated from the University of Toronto’s physiotherapy program in 2017. Prior to this he graduated with Magna Cum Laude & Honours from York University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Health Science. Since graduating Gowshigan has completed several courses in manual therapy, acupuncture, taping, McKenzie treatment approach, vestibular therapy and concussion therapy. Currently he is working towards his manual therapy designation through the Orthopedic Division. Tim is a skilled and compassionate kinesiologist with a deep understanding of human movement and injury rehabilitation. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Human Nutrition from the University of Waterloo in 2016, followed by a Post-Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from the University of Western Ontario. Tim is also a certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine, further solidifying his expertise in exercise prescription and rehabilitation. With years of experience in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and concussions, Tim utilizes a holistic approach to therapy that combines his knowledge in kinesiology and nutrition. His treatment philosophy is centered on helping individuals regain mobility, strength, and confidence, whether recovering from an injury or enhancing overall physical performance. When he’s not helping clients on their journey to recovery, Tim is an avid photographer, multi-sport athlete, and backpacking enthusiast. Olivia is an experienced Mental Health Clinician, practicing as a Registered Psychotherapist. She currently supports first responders and health care staff individually and organizationally by providing annual wellness checks and individual therapy, facilitating psychoeducational sessions and critical incident debriefs, supporting Peer Support programs, and developing content to support public safety organizations. Olivia supports individuals across the mental health continuum, including providing care to clients who want to develop resilience and improve coping, and supporting clients with operational stress injuries (anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorders) in their recovery. Vaiva Underys graduated from Western University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and returned in 2011 to complete a Master of Clinical Science in 2012. She is also a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists and has training in acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation Institute. She has also been a mentor for physiotherapists going through manual therapy credentialling through the Orthopedic Division of the Candian Physiotherapy Association.

Vaiva has had the privilege of working with patients of all ages in the community, primarily in a sports medicine setting for 15 years. She continues to enjoy using her manual therapy skills and knowledge of exercise-based interventions to help patients recover from injury. She has assumed many clinical leadership positions and has extensive experience treating workplace injuries such as shoulder sprain/strains, back related impairments (arthritis, disc injuries) and post operative knee injuries (ACL tears, meniscal repairs and various fractures) She is well versed at addressing musculoskeletal complaints incurred from long hours of computer work but also enjoys seeing patients with various sports related injuries such as meniscal tears, discogenic back pain, rotator cuff tendonopathies and ankle sprains.
